He Is Risen
Read it yourself in the King James Bible: Matthew 28:1–10 ↗
“He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.”
Matthew 28:6 (KJV)The Story
Early on Sunday morning, as dawn was breaking, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary walked to the tomb where Jesus had been buried. They expected to find it sealed, with soldiers guarding it.
Suddenly there was a great earthquake. An angel of the Lord came down from heaven, rolled the stone away from the entrance, and sat on it. His face was like lightning and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so terrified that they shook and fell down like dead men.
The angel spoke to the women. “Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.”
Then go quickly, he said, and tell His disciples. He is going ahead of you to Galilee.
The women ran from the tomb, afraid and filled with joy at the same time.
And on the way, Jesus Himself met them. “All hail,” He said. They fell at His feet, held on to Him, and worshiped.
“Be not afraid,” He told them. “Go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.”
