Key Verse

“And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.”

Mark 5:34 (KJV)

The Story

For twelve years, a woman had suffered from constant bleeding. She had gone from doctor to doctor and spent every penny she had. Instead of getting better, she got worse.

Under the law of that time, her condition also made her ceremonially unclean. She wasn’t supposed to be in crowds or touch anyone. For twelve years, she had been sick, broke, and alone.

Then she heard about Jesus. He was passing through town on His way to heal a dying girl, and a huge crowd was pressing in around Him. She thought, “If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.”

She pushed through the crowd, reached out, and touched His garment. Immediately the bleeding stopped. She could feel in her body that she was healed.

Jesus stopped. “Who touched my clothes?” His disciples almost laughed. Everyone was touching Him. But Jesus kept looking around.

Trembling, the woman came forward, fell at His feet, and told Him the whole truth. Jesus didn’t scold her. He said, “Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.”

Reflection

She only wanted to touch the hem and slip away unnoticed. Jesus wanted more for her than that.
