They Overcame
Read it yourself in the King James Bible: Revelation 12:7–11 ↗
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”
Revelation 12:11 (KJV)The Story
Near the end of the Bible, the apostle John was given a vision of the great conflict behind all the others.
“There was war in heaven,” he wrote. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But they didn’t win. The great dragon, “that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world,” was thrown down.
Then John heard a loud voice in heaven. “Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.”
And the voice told how God’s people had won.
“They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”
Reflection
Over these 30 days, we’ve watched God fight for His people in valleys and on mountains, in fields of lentils and in pagan temples, in the wilderness and in a prison cell. This last story shows us the end of every battle.
