All Things New
Read it yourself in the King James Bible: Revelation 21:1–7 ↗
“And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.”
Revelation 21:5 (KJV)The Story
Near the end of his life, the apostle John was exiled on a small island called Patmos because of his faith in Jesus. There, God gave him a vision of the end of all things.
John saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and earth had passed away. He saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, “prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.”
Then he heard a loud voice from the throne. “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.”
And then came the promise every grieving heart longs to hear: “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
The One sitting on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He told John, “Write: for these words are true and faithful.”
Reflection
Over these thirty days, we’ve watched God restore a denying disciple, a runaway son, a broken family, a doubting friend, and lives that seemed over. Every one of those stories is a small picture of this final one.
