Such as I Have
Read it yourself in the King James Bible: Acts 3:1–10 ↗
“Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.”
Acts 3:6 (KJV)The Story
One afternoon at three o’clock, the hour of prayer, Peter and John went up to the temple. At the gate called Beautiful sat a man who had been unable to walk from birth. Every day, friends carried him there so he could beg from people going in to worship.
When he saw Peter and John, he asked them for money.
Peter looked straight at him. “Look on us.” The man looked up, expecting coins.
Instead Peter said, “Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.”
Peter took him by the right hand and lifted him up. Immediately his feet and ankles became strong. He jumped up, stood, and began to walk.
Then he went into the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God.
The people recognized him as the man who had sat begging at the Beautiful gate for years, and they were filled with wonder and amazement.
Reflection
The man asked for a little money. He got his life back. For over forty years, he had sat outside the temple gate, near God’s house but never able to walk in. Now he walked right in, leaping.
