Surely I Come Quickly
Read it yourself in the King James Bible: Revelation 22:12–21 ↗
“He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.”
Revelation 22:20 (KJV)The Story
The Bible begins in a garden, with a tree of life. It ends in a city, with a tree of life.
In the last chapter of the last book, the apostle John was shown the river of the water of life flowing from the throne of God, clear as crystal. On either side of the river grew the tree of life, bearing fruit every month, with leaves for the healing of the nations. There would be no more curse. God’s servants would see His face.
Then, as the vision closed, Jesus spoke.
“Behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me.” “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.”
He gave an invitation: “And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.”
And then, at the very end of the Bible, Jesus made one last promise. “Surely I come quickly.”
John answered for all of us. “Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.”
Reflection
Over these 30 days, we’ve watched God keep His promises to Abraham, Noah, Joseph, Moses, Caleb, David, Simeon, Anna, and many others. Some waited a few days. Some waited a lifetime. Some, like Joseph, waited beyond their own lives. But not one of His good promises failed.
